We are pleased to also announce the appointment of Matthew H. Okubo, PLS, as Executive Vice-President / Principal. Previously the Vice President/Regional Survey Manager at David Evans and Associates (DEA) in Ontario, California, Matt will assist in overseeing the firm’s operations and areas of strategic planning, technological advancements and business development.
Matt is a native of Lahaina, Maui and attended the University of Hawaii of Manoa in the field of civil engineering before finally putting down roots in California in 1997. In 2001, he took a position as a Survey Chainman with Hall & Foreman, Inc. (HFI) in their satellite office in Fontana. Over the next several years, Matt excelled in both field and office capacities and ultimately attained the status of Principal with HFI in 2010. In 2014, HFI merged with David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA), a large, well respected multidisciplinary A&E firm where he served as the Vice President & California Regional Manager of the Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit residing in their Ontario, CA office. Over the next three years at DEA, Matt increased his Survey team’s revenues by over 350%, Utilization rates by 17% and gross profits by over 350%.
A few of Matt’s notable projects include the Inglewood Stadium at Hollywood Park, Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA)-Automated People Mover, City of Dana Point-Lantern District/Town Center, West Creek Master Planned Community (Phase I-IV), and Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority Upper Narrows Pipeline Replacement.
WLG is also pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn M. Chung, PE, QSD/P as Executive Vice-President / Principal. Glenn is a native of Southern California who was born and raised in Hacienda Heights where he began his career working at his Father’s company as a Survey Chainman and Engineering Designer. He continued to work for his Father while attending California State University, Long Beach where he received his BS in Civil Engineering. In 1997, Glenn accepted a position at HFI as a Staff Engineer specializing in land development, with much of his early career devoted to working on commercial retail, industrial, and education projects. Glenn became one of the Principals of HFI in 2006. In 2014, HFI merged with DEA, a large, well respected multidisciplinary A&E firm where Glenn served as Vice President and Regional Manager in charge of the strategic planning and financial growth of the firm’s Commercial/Industrial Business Unit in California.
Some of Glenn’s notable projects include the Watson Industrial Park (263-acre, 11-Building, 5.1-million square foot Master Planned Business Community), CarMax (several locations), Bass Pro Shop (Rancho Cucamonga), Mathis Brothers Furniture (Ontario), Wal-Mart & Sam’s Clubs stores (various locations), and several million square feet of commercial retail and industrial buildings throughout Southern California.
Glenn and Matt join the ranks with the other owners and will have the responsibility of managing the company’s many operations ensuring that the company’s resources and assets are aligned strategically for growth and financial expectations.
